Flying a balloon from the city of Malmö requires a westerly wind at a reasonable speed. You should be lucky if it is just over Malmö, but even if we fly a little east or north of Malmö, we get the whole panorama served just in time for sunset. The silhouette of Turning Torso, Malmö Live and not least the Öresund Bridge looks very nice with the setting sun over Copenhagen. You experience the whole of southwest Skåne on a tour of the Malmö area. You can see up to Lund, down to Trelleborg and Falsterbonäset and often we see planes landing and taking off at Sturup.
If the wind and weather are suitable, we start in Pildammsparken in Malmö city. If the wind is southerly, we cannot start there because of the risk of ending up in Lommabukten. Then we often start in either Oxie or at Östra Sjukhuset. If the winds are even more easterly, we go to Lund or even Torna Hällestad. Everything for you to have a great but also safe experience. Hot air balloon flights take place either in the hours before sunset or the hours after sunrise. During the flying season, meeting and flight times will therefore vary as they follow the timing of sunrise and sunset.
We are in the air for approximately one hour, depending on wind and weather conditions, as well as the availability of suitable landing sites, etc. However, you should allow at least four hours for the entire experience.
Hot air balloons cannot be steered. They follow the direction of the wind, and you never know exactly where you will land. After about 50 minutes, the pilot will start looking for a good landing spot.
The chase vehicle follows the balloon from the ground and aims to arrive at the landing site shortly after the balloon has landed.
We fly in many areas and you choose which flight area you want to fly in when you book your flight. In Skåne, we fly from Helsingborg, Lund, Malmö or Sjöbo. In Västra Götaland, you can choose between Gothenburg, Varberg, Uddevalla and Skaraborg, among others. Or why not try a magnificent flight over Stockholm?
