A balloon flight in Sweden usually costs between 2200 and 2600 SEK per person. The ticket price often depends on the waiting time for the flight, the region, the type of flight (morning/evening) and many other factors.
Tickets for balloon flights are not all the same
Balloon companies operate in different ways. Some offer different prices for weekday and weekend flights, and also different ones for morning and evening flights. Weekend and evening flights are the most popular, which is why their prices can exceed those for morning flights during the week.
How does it work at DreamBalloon?
On DreamBalloon, each ticket costs 2295 SEK. After purchasing a ticket, our future passengers receive a booking code with which they can sign up for both morning and evening flights in any region and on any date.
We regularly publish scheduled flights in the flight calendar, so there’s no need to wait – you can book your desired flight right away. Even during the high season (July/August), we make every effort to ensure that there are always seats available on our flights, although increased demand for tourist/recreational activities is quite natural during that period, so we recommend signing up earlier.
Why is it so expensive?
Sometimes we hear:
- Why so expensive?
- If the tickets cost 500 SEK maybe I would fly
- Will there be a pilot/can I buy such a balloon myself?
It should be remembered that a hot air balloon, despite its aesthetic charm and presence in every other cartoon and children’s book, is still an aircraft subject to the authority of the Transport Agency, and the conditions of its operation are strictly regulated by law.
The purchase and maintenance of a certified balloon and equipment, fuel, a crew of several people and a pilot with an advanced license for commercial flights are costs that contribute significantly to the ticket price. In addition, the management of each flight is associated with other significant costs. The balloon must be transported in a specialized trailer pulled by an all-terrain vehicle. It is also important to store the balloon – like any aircraft, it requires a dry and warm room. This of course also generates many costs.
To the question “Can I buy such a balloon myself?” we are happy to answer yes! However, we advise you to first undergo training and apply for the appropriate license 😊
Balloon pilot licenses are divided into 4 groups depending on the size of the balloon we fly. At DreamBalloon we usually fly large balloons as it limits some costs and allows us to keep the tickets at affordable prices. All our pilots have a Group D license, which means they are eligible to fly the largest balloons available.
