The landscape here is calm, simple, and charming – golden fields, ancient farmsteads, medieval churches rising above the treeline, and the kind of deep rural calm that’s harder to find than it used to be.
From above, the shimmering surface of Lake Mälaren appears on the horizon and the patchwork of the plains stretches out in every direction. In summer, the fields glow; in early autumn, the harvested land takes on a warmth that makes the whole valley look painted. The light here in the early morning and at dusk is something else entirely.
